Unfortunately, recycling isn’t going to save the world. At the very least, we haven’t hacked it. Recycling doesn’t end at the bin. In Nigeria, and elsewhere, recyclables take a long, uncertain journey and not all of them make it through. Understanding what happens next helps us make better choices and demand better systems.
